Major Developers to Shift Focus to Wii-DS

If this is really true, all I can say is this is great news for Nintendo.

A translation from a new Japanese article indicates that major players in the gaming industry, SEGA, Capcom, and Namco-Bandai (following the Monolith Soft sell-off), are beginning to shift their focus to the Wii and DS due to less sales and higher production costs on the other systems. They will continue to support them, but the focus will now be on Nintendo’s consoles.

The story can be found here.

Kudos to Nintendo!

Metroid Prime 3 Details (Spoiler Alert)

Here is a nice little list of details regarding Nintendo’s flagship title Metroid Prime 3:

– First level – You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ship’s captain…action packed

– Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick

– Super sensitive pointer in “advanced” mode

– Beam stacking ala Super Metroid

– Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions

– Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.

– Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in previous Primes

– Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted “Twilight Princess” levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.

– Second level – floating city focused on exploration

– Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2

– Corruption Mode not available in demo

– Play says it could be the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo.

The Manhunt 2 Saga Continues!

And it’s official! Take Two has no plans to distribute the game currently. They have plans to protest the ESRB and rating boards in Europe that have been banning the game. It remains to be seen if the game will be edited, canned, or release in its current state if the rating boards cave (unlikely).

Manhunt to be Adult Only

250px-manhunt_2_wii_box_art_final.jpg
The ESRB has issued an initial rating of AO (Adults Only) for Manhunt 2.

We believe the process of rating videogames is to help people make informed entertainment choices and not to limit them.

Manhunt 2 was created for mature audiences and we strongly believe it should receive an M (Mature) rating, aligning it with similar content created in other forms of media. We are exploring our options with regard to the rating of Manhunt 2.

Discuss in Comments Section:
Personally I think this is HUGE NEWS gamers. Whether it will be “good news” has yet to be seen but this is big. Do you think there will be a back lash of angry parents attempting to ban this title?

Manhunt 2 banned in UK

Well for all of our UK fans it appears the Manhunt 2 has been banned in that country.  AU IGN reports the following:

Manhunt 2 on Wii and PlayStation 2 has been banned after the British Board of Film Classification refused to give the game a rating due to its “unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone… which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing”.
